Skill-Builder Class: Six-Panel Stained Glass Lampshade - February 13

SKU: CSSBLAMP

Six-Panel Lampshade with Wanda Shorty Advanced Beginner +

Friday, February 13

12:30-4:00pm

Your six panels must be cut, copper foiled and soldered before the class (it will be very important that all six panels are the same size/shape-we recommend using a jig.) You will bring the six individual panels to class where Wanda will guide you through soldering them together to form the lampshade. She will also teach you to use reinforcing strip on the sides and top of your lampshade, and how to attach the cap. Stop in to pick up a copy of a simple pattern and instructions (you may use any pattern you choose as long as you will have the vase cap to match the size.)

Stained Glass Express provides:

  • both copper and braided reinforcing strip
  • copy of simple pattern if desired
  • use of our tools (soldering iron), flux, flux brush, flux cleaner, black patina if needed

Items to bring with you to class:

  • The six soldered panels. Edges should be straight and flush, edges can be tinned
  • six-sided/round vase cap in an appropriate size for your finished lamp.  We have multiple sizes and styles and can help you find the right one as part of the class!
  • Solder
  • Electrical tape
  • A box or bucket filled with shredded paper. You will use this to cradle your lampshade to give you a free hand and keep the lampshade level while soldering the panels together. Let us know in advance if you need help with this.
  • rags or old towels to clean your finished shade

This method of attaching a vase cap needs a lamp base with a harp and finial. We have complete lamp bases available in the store, as well as harps, finials, and any other parts you may need if you're assembling your own base.
