The Art of Choosing Glass-A Blog Series--Autumn Leaves-The Colors of Fall

Fall is just the best!  Here in Maine, the leaves are turning glorious shades of red, orange and yellow with beautiful browns, greens and golds mixed in. At Stained Glass Express we are inspired by these colors.

Here is a project for Fall.

James Veilleux (Red) makes leaves for our Gallery. They are the perfect example of how the right glass choices can bring a fall project to life.

How beautiful are these!  Red has chosen rich reds but he also picks yellows and oranges.

Note that his choice is opalescent glass.  Both textured and smooth. When you are picking your glass look beyond color alone.  Check the glass in the light.  See how much light is going through.  Is that the look you want?    Look for life in the glass.  These leaves would not be as vibrant if they were made with smooth solid opal glass.

Wissmach is a great choice for fall glass.  These multi-colored sheets would give you leaves that each have their own character.

Youghiogheny is another great choice. Youghiogheny is known for its high interest glass.  So many choices for multi-colored art glass. It is great in transmitted and reflected light.  You will have a one-of-a-kind piece of art, using this glass.
