It is possible to fuse or cast beads, but the most popular right now is the mandrel-wound method.

This picture show students using hot head torches and map gas. This is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to get started with bead making.
You will also need:
Mandrels (to wrap the hot glass around)
Didymium glasses (a must)
Tweezers
Pliers
Bead release
Marvers and paddles
Picks, pokes, and rakes
Bench brush
Squashers or mashers
Rod cutter
Rod rest
Miscellaneous tools like paring knife, spoons, saucers.
You also need a kiln or a way to anneal the beads.
