Intro to Fused Glass: Focus on Full Fusing
Introduction to Fused Glass: Focus on Full Fusing 2 Sessions
Instructor: Liz B (The Glass Academy Director herself is taking a turn at teaching this newly formulated class!)
Fridays, January 9 & 16, 2:00-4:30pm
No Experience Necessary
Learn the basics of "full fuse": melting glass in the kiln up to 1500 degrees so that it becomes smooth and uniform. More than a Fun Night Out, this class will focus on the "why" and "how" of fusing glass. Learn to let the glass do all the work!
In the first class, you'll become familiar with the classroom and tools, safety, and the basic principles of what to expect from glass in the kiln. You'll learn how to prepare projects for our kilns, and practice this by making a set of dots, a snowflake or tree ornament, two small rectangular plates, (in your choice of colors from our "leftover" pile!), and a set of magnets as experiments!
In the second class, you'll examine your results and ask a million questions! Then try your hand at a two of three options. We'll do a tour of the store so you know where to find materials, and you can purchase any additional supplies you want to add to your projects.
At the end of 2 sessions, you will be prepared to work independently in our classroom, and get a $5 Off voucher for the next Intro class: Contour Fusing!
