The Wissmach Luminescent glass coating is a low-fire coating which is generally less expensive and has a different look than iridized glass. Wissmach Luminescent glass is made to be fired with the coating side down:
Tips on firing Wissmach Luminescent glass:
- Firing with the coated side down on a powdered kiln wash dusted fiber shelf will keep a bright coating.
- Firing with the coated side down on a kiln washed shelf or shelf paper will keep a bright coating.
- If fired coating side up, the color will stay vibrant on dark colors if fired no higher than 1410F but will fade on lighter colors when fired with the coated side up leaving just a sheen.
- The coating will not be visible when fired with the coated side capped by another piece of transparent glass, up or down.
