Who teaches the classes? The educational coordinator and primary instructor for classes at Stained Glass Express is Lucie Boucher. Her work is shown in galleries in Ashville, NC, Jackson, WY, Boston, MA, Portland and Bar Harbor, ME, and Saskatchewan, Canada. Lucie has attended Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN and The Studio at Corning Glass in Corning, NY. She has worked in glass for 10 years, two of which have been as a full-time glass artist in Waterville, ME. To see Lucie’s work, go to www.stoneridgeglass.com. We have a number of glass artists/instructors who teach classes in specialty areas. These artists, at times, teach the introductory classes at Stained Glass Express.
What will I get after the class is over? Art teachers will receive a certificate of attendance documenting number of contact hours to use toward re-certification requirements. Additionally, you will receive a packet of information listing the tools, materials, supplies, equipment, and glass needed to add the different components of glass art to your curriculum. Also included will be a scope and sequence plan to assist you in introducing glass art to your students. Schools receive a 20% discount from Stained Glass Express. The National Teach the Teacher Program offers teachers who have participated in this program an opportunity to receive free glass art books for just the cost of shipping. Once you have completed a class, your name can be added to the national Teach the Teacher registry to receive other free materials from the organization.
